Don't Watch The Pot Hole
Wink: Going to church doesn't make you a holy person any more than going to a garage makes you a mechanic.
You can tell spring is gradually working its way around by the size of the potholes in our streets. Some of them are big enough to disappear a smart car.
Here's a driving tip for you. You know how you are driving down the street and you see this big pot hole and you swerve to avoid it at the last minute. And WHAM! You hit that sucker dead on - there goes the alignment and Lord knows what else. How many times have you done that?
Here's what you need to do. The next time you swerve to avoid that pot hole, look at the pavement next to it. In driving you will go where you are looking. If you look at the pot hole, you will hit it dead on. Look at the pavement beside it, and you will miss it, even if the strip of good pavement is only a half tire width wide.
Just try it next time you are out. It works. This works for manhole covers, debris in the road, anything of that size. Of course if you are going to swerve around something, check mirrors, etc. to make sure you have space available.
One more thing. Ever wonder why during so many accidents vehicles hit power poles? There is a big space between them things, you have to be quite accurate to get one. You got it. If you look at the pole, or the tree, you will hit it. So if you ever have an emergency situation, condition yourself to look at the open space.
During my driver training years I taught this technique to a lot of people. All of them that tried it said, " Gee, that works. Wish I had known that before."
