I guess there was a time when you went to the room, did your business and got out of there.

In the early days the room, was out back in the cold. If you were lucky you got to look at the Sears and Eaton's catalogue pictures on the wall.

Progress brought us inside with a magazine in hand. Luxury rooms even had a magazine rack with a choice of printed material

Now days we've really progressed. Technology has invaded the room.

We can take our tablets or iPads to the room. Which has generated some problems or questions:

• That noise - is the seat sticking to your bottom?
• The buzzy ringing sound - get a Facebook message?
• You okay? - or is the story just longer?

Adds new meaning to:

• Flush your cache.
• Listen to the air force.
• Memory leak.

At least in the US they got it right. In Canada it's called a 'washroom'. In the US it's called a 'restroom’.
