Fast Checkout
Today I went to the fast checkout cashier at one of the local department stores here in Panama City Beach.
With one person in front of me, it went like this:
Cashier: “How are you today?”
Beep!
Customer: “Fine.”
Beep!
Cashier: “Seen Martha lately?”
Beep!
Customer: “Oh yes, we were there to visit her on the weekend?”
Beep! Beep!
Cashier: “How is she?”
Beep!
Customer: “Oh she is fine. Except for her back. Her knees are not good either.”
Beep! Beep!
Cashier: “That’s too bad. She was always so out going and on the go.”
Beep!
Customer: “Yes she was.”
Beep!
Cashier: “That will be $59.72!”
Customer: “Visa.”
Cashier: “Slide your card through.”
Customer: “Hmmm…”
Cashier: “Turn it around the other way.”
Customer: “Huh?”
Cashier: “Yeah the other end first.”
Customer: “What the …”
Cashier: “You have to press enter.”
Customer: “Oh.”
Cashier: “With the pen thing.”
Cashier: “You have a nice day, Merry Christmas.”
“How are you today Sir?”
Yep should have known. That’s the fast checkout. Only 10 items or less. Elapsed time 9 min.
