Read The Fine Print
I was just reading one of the local electronic sales flyers. Talk about back to school bargains, boy does it look good - until you read the fine print. You do read the fine print don't you?
A complete computer system for $799.99 with specs you wouldn't believe. And it has an LCD monitor and all in one printer. No wait a minute, it says on the LCD monitor screen that the all in one is free. If you read the fine print, the seven ninety nine price is after rebate, after rebate, converted to Cdn dollars. Oh yean, and the monitor is extra. Oh by the way, these units are factory refurbished. Some bargain that is - but the specs are all in nice huge capitol letters.
On a software page, same flyer, there is a large picture of Wordperfect Family Pack 5. Huge Red block with arrows that says "Free". Course the fine print says after rebate, after rebate. And in even finer print (most would need a magnifying glass to read it), it says with any PC hardware purchase - except printers and scanners. That narrows it down doesn't it.
Only two samples of a sale that is full of that stuff. We have all these stupid laws in place these days that says we must do that, we must do this..Time for another one, shouldn't we have "Buyer Beware" force printed on the top of all these 'sales'?
