Wink: Birthdays are good for you, The more you have, the longer you live.

I remember reading an article in Playboy magazine many years ago that predicted how our entertainment would be in the future. Yes there were good stories and articles in Playboy. I always said that, but everyone else thought it was just pictures. Then again the pictures were relaxing after a long involved article.

Anyway, in summary this article advised we would be in remote control heaven. Our TV would become a home entertainment system. We would be able to select our own programs from satellite TV or a cable system that would supply hundreds of channels. Specialty TV would mean we could watch what we want on a large wall size screen. Our house lights, heat, vibrating bed, etc. would all be controlled by one remote control or voice activated response system.

Are we there yet? I think so. I can sit back with my remote and watch TV programs of my choice. Once, twice, all evening, all week over and over again. That's home entertainment.

I can cruise through hundreds of channels, one at a time, and not find anything I like. But not to worry, the evening has passed anyway, no time for a movie now. That's home entertainment.

I have an on screen menu that lists twenty something items which tells you the same thing twenty different ways. You can change its colours, read a list, a summary, a full description, block the bottom of the screen, half of it, or all of it, depending on your mood. That's home entertainment.

I can check the weather, get the news, watch a DVD, listen to the radio, see who is at the front door, dim the lights, all from the magic remote of channels. That's home entertainment.

So far there is only one button missing from that tiny blue glowing remote screen. One that says "Piss the dog."
