Cell Phone Internet
Wink: Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just don't have film.
A couple of weeks ago I decided to try cell phone internet. Prior to that I was of the opinion "internet on a cell phone, what good is that on that tiny screen, I just don't see a use for it".
I am still experimenting and testing things out, but I am finding it really can be usefull in a lot of ways. In fact it may even be a 'keeper'.
First of all there is Google maps. Type in any address, postal code, or any other kind of description, and the map goes there immediately. And yes it does zoom in enough to be very useful for directions. I was really impressed when I looked up my place, flipped to the satellite view and could see the light coloured canopy we have over our deck in the summertime.
You can also input the name of a grocery store, pizza place, or the gas station, and it will lead you there.
By using Opera Mini, you can surf the internet much like you do on a computer. Opera Mini downloads the pages to their server, resizes them to fit your phone and sends them to you. There is a lot of scrolling to do, but the pages are readable.
There are many other things, weather report, nearly any facts and figures, find addresses, phone numbers, almost anything you can think of within reason. You can even chat on Messenger or other like systems.
It is also fun to be able to upload your own graphics and ringtones as well. Depending on your provider, it may not be all that expensive. It is not for everyone, and for some it will be just play. However I was amazed to find so many practical uses for cell phone internet.
The only negative so far, typing with your thumbs is tiring, and it is on the slow side a lot of the time. And it does eat up a lot of battery power if you stay on for long periods of time.
