It’s A Bird, It’s A …

Even though it has been colder than normal this year in sunny(?) Florida, one of the first things you look forward to is palm trees. Then you notice all the different kinds of birds, because after all birds fly south in winter, right?

We thought it only right to hang out a bird feeder on the nearest palm tree. These little creatures still look for food, especially when it is colder than normal, and we noticed quite a few red cardinals in the trees nearby, along with many other colourful breeds.

It didn’t take long before the feeder was populated all around. Makes you wonder what kind of radar these little things have. Or maybe they use GPS, who knows.

The very next morning we were anxious to check the feeder again to see if there were any new visitors. And there was.

Squirrel

This guy got a grip on things and hung upside down for an hour, the best banquet he ever came across. He has been a regular guest every morning for the past two months.

I couldn’t get a picture, but there is a local cat that has been unsuccessful in trying to make this guy his lunch.

Quite entertaining, for he stays his time, then leaves for the day, allowing the birds to have their share.

Cardinal

Many birds come and go, and they are very colourful, including these cardinals that show up regularly.

It is quite entertaining each morning as I drink my Fogy coffee, to watch these various folks of the animal world share food. Other than the cat, they don’t seem to want to harm each other. They just share.

It’s too bad humans couldn’t learn how to do that. It might make a better world.
