Browse Safe

There are lots of warnings out as always to be careful and aware of your internet surfing habits. Yet many people still employ sloppy actions and are getting caught. So this is another of those warnings to watch what you do.

Several of my friends have got caught in the last week by malware bugs, and I have been told a local computer dealer is getting more than half a dozen infected computers a week.

We are going through a time when many new ways of infection are being improved or developed each week. And it is predicted to get worse.

Email Can Be Dangerous

Those fancy emails you send each other can be dangerous. The movie files, pictures, presentation files and even pdf’s can ‘do it to you’ real fast.

I have reached the point where I don’t open anything attached to email. I have a good warning system, and it goes off nearly every day during email retrieval.

Not all attachments are bad, but you better know how to separate the good from the bad, it is safer to just not open them.

Happy Halloween

Those electronic cards are particularly bad because most are exe files that could contain most anything, even if sent from people you know. This being near Halloween, the cards are in abundance once again. I’ve had two that set off my early warning system.

You even have to choose your web sites carefully as some can give you a little gift just by stopping by. I am not even going to expand on all the FB possibilities with the little third party ‘doo hickeys’ a lot of people click on at random.

Don’t Be Click Happy

Don’t click on and download that free program because a message says your computer is infected. It may not be, but probably will be if you follow that advice. Pay attention to what you are clicking, don’t just quickly click on everything.

There’s everything from unpleasant pop up messages and icons to gremlins that will shut down your computer when you least expect it. Do a little research, keep up to date on what is out there. It may keep you from losing everything and having to pay to start from scratch.
