Your Side of the Line
So I'm driving down the highway at 110 km per hr. (70 mph), and notice this car about half a car length from my rear bumper. If I just eased off the accelerator that distance would decrease to inches in seconds.
Finally the car passes me. We are on a four lane highway, good thing its a smaller car because that driver is only a foot or so away from me, using little more than half of its lane. Does my van have a strong magnetism or something?
The car, now in front drifts over the right hand solid line by half a car width. Our speed has dropped to 95 km per hr., making me wonder why the pass. In perfect rhythm, it drifts over the lane line to the left a couple of feet, just as a pickup truck is passing us.
My speed is back up to 110 km per hr. as the car in front pulls away well above the legal speed limit. Ahead I see the swaying car pass the pickup truck. Even further away I see the pickup in turn pass the car that just passed.
The trip continues as our speed drops to 100 km per hr. Isn't it wonderful how most cars come with cruise these days, but hardly anyone has found it. (Just like signal lights.)
I've finally had enough entertainment and must get on down the highway or my journey will never be completed. So I carefully pass and "get gone."
Do you think I should have reported this impaired driver? This was in the middle of the day. What were they drinking?
Let me rephrase that. What were they thinking?
No thinking here, this driver was texting!
