Chirp Chirp Is Not Only For The Birds

A while back I mentioned car alarms and some of the drivers that use them. Today I was fascinated once again, not by the car alarm, but by its owner.

I am in a part of the country where it is still warm enough to drive with a convertible’s top down.auto

I had just pulled in and parked, when a fairly expensive convertible, with the top down arrives in a spot in the parking lane in front of me.

The couple get out, “chirp! chirp!,” he locks the car and activates the alarm. He even looks back at the lock pins to make sure the car is really locked, and off they go into the shopping area.

Hey dude the top is down!

My simple question is why? Why lock it?

The car was low enough a six year old could jump over the sides and enter it, then hop back out.

The only thing I can think of – this is my expensive car, I paid a lot of money for it, its got all the gadgets, and by golly I’m gonna use them.

Chirp! Chirp!
