Up 'till 2:30am
It was an unplanned event, but I was up until 0230 this morning. Things were going good and I planned to get to the horizontal mode about midnight. Then I discovered my main computer had a Trojan. It was called Xpsystem and it runs wmplayer.exe on your computer. Norton Antivirus would not pick it up, and Spybot Search & Destroy only found part of it. This Trojan changes you Internet Explorer settings, including your home page. It is a redirector that sends your personal information off to an unknown server. It is also designed to keep reinstalling itself no matter what you do. It put approximately twenty or so entries in the registry that have to be removed manually. This is one of the worst trojans I have run across to get rid of. I will have information about it later on my web page. Since it is questionable whether you should turn the computer off when such activity is present, I stayed up until that hour removing most of the registry items, and still have about another hour of work to get things back to normal. That's why I love computers so much - they try to drive you nuts!
Yesterdays perk - a conversation I had with a recently new friend - guess who...
