Specialty Channels

In this area the so called TV Specialty Channels are on for free for the entire month of January if you have a digital TV box.

Well so far I have scanned through a few of them and haven't seen too much that I would be willing to pay for. Having said that, we have subscribed to the Animal Channel and Tech TV for the past couple years. Even those are rapidly going no where. The Animal Channel spends most of its time with the Chroc Hunter and Tech TV was bought out by some other outfit and is now 95% computer game reviews.

On top of that I was watching one of the channels the other night that gave the warning "This program is rated ***, and maycontain nudity, mature content and language in-appropriate for young viewers" They ran that stupid saying every time there was a commercial. (Yes there are commercials on most of those channels even though you pay extra for them.)

Now here is the main point - every time there was a picture of nudity they had the stupid pixel scrambled square over the top of the boobs or whatever they were showing. Any language was beeped with the familiar tone over the word.

Now my question for today is, what the heck is that warning for if they have everything bleeped out anyway? Our rating system is pretty stupid anyway, with PG, PG 14, PG14+ and so on. Only the kids know what it means.
