Telemarket BS
I have written before about unsolicited phone calls arriving at the worst possible time with a song and dance story or we are conducting a survey on this or that. With called ID I only answer if I am in the mood.
But one particular number has come up on my phone regularly for the past month and a half, approximately every two days. The name is blocked, but the number is there. Course if you call that number back so and so's mail box is full, please hang up. This is a computer generated call, because if you don't answer it, it only rings four times.
Now here is the damning part. If I do answer it with "hello....hello....hello...." there is never anyone there. Well one of the latest things to do is call your number, and if you answer it at certain times of the day that is recorded. Then that list is sold to other marketers as a number that will be answered between the hours of.....
Well I happen to be , let's say a computer 'hobbyist'. Sometimes two can play a game. That particular number was traced back to a business in Ontario. I was able to locate a number for that business that was answered by a real person. I recorded the persons name and our conversation where I explained the problem in no uncertain terms and requested the harassment to stop immediately. I received an apology and was advised that my name would be removed immediately.
Since then I have received one call from that same number which I did not answer. Was it accidental? Did it take time to deactivate? Who knows? But if I receive one more such call I will list the name and number of that company here. Then if you get a similar call, maybe you to can call them and we can reverse telemarket!
All is fair....in....
