That's Progress
Miz D is talking about her new upgraded work space. Isn't it funny what update and modernize means sometimes.
Take for example a simple thing like white board markers. The old ones were much like any magic marker and lasted for weeks. The new style, you have to put the cap on a certain way or it doesn't fit tight. (They dry out faster that way so you will buy new ones sooner.) The new ones have softer ends and go fluffy making them 90% less than useless.
Look at computer programs. They start out being simple little packages of ones and zeros. Then features are added and they become so bloated, half your computer space is used up just to hold the program. And for the average user, the program itself doesn't do anything different.
Look at cars. One time they were all different and it was a pleasure to choose one that suited your fancy because of its style. Now no matter who the manufacturer, they all look the same, supposedly in the interest of efficiency.
Don't look at your take home pay. I looked at mine last year. Ant in the 70's I had twice the take home dollars that I have today, even though I am supposed to be making a lot more because of promotions or whatever.
As far as the cave lighting is concerned, well like a lot of the gadgets this abode contains, - it has been upgraded. Better? I dunno! But I can make it dark, dim, daylight or super bright. All at the touch of a button, and it doesn't have any windows either!
