Whoa No!
Wink: You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.
Yesterday over at Cloud Nine Miz D mentioned she found it hard to say "No" to telemarketers. Fact is, we are conditioned that it is not polite to say no. We are conditioned and setup so that it is not polite to refuse many requests in our life.
The phone request is one. The poor kids, the unfortunate happenings, and on it goes. They try to make you feel low down if you don't comply.
There are others, like the collections for Magie who is having a baby. Or Guthro is collecting for Juno Jane's birthday. This is always asked for in front of others where they hope it is too difficult to say no. Once hooked, you are on the line for every like event that occurs from that point on, year after year.
Like Miz D experienced, on the telephone it is getting far too common for the request to specify the amount. $200. or $100., what square do you want me to check? Check the one that says "for office use only".
Don't get me wrong, I sometimes give, in fact I have given my share, perhaps more. But I have no problem saying no if I feel its warranted. No matter what corner I am pushed in, if I feel the answer is no, "no" is what they get no matter what the situation.
In fact, sometimes I enjoy that, just like breaking chain emails. The ones that say something bad will happen, or you are a dozy if you don't forward this. The second I read please pass this on, it isn't going anywhere. That's the end of the cycle when it hits my inbox.
So don't pass this on, "It ain't goin' no where."
