No Magazines
I recently visited a local hospital where there were signs all over the place stating: “Magazines Have Been Removed Due To The Threat Of Swine Flu.”
That caused my sometimes warped mind to go on another journey. First of all what is the risk of magazines transferring swine flu germs around? There were plenty of hand sanitizing stations all over the place, though I suppose most every day people do not use them.
Anyway, here is what those signs triggered in my mind, if there is a possibility of swine flu germs being transmitted in this fashion.
- What about the door knobs we use to enter the place?
- How about elevator buttons and the associated hand rails.
- How do you get in and out of the washroom without touching more door knobs?
- What about that pen they slide across the counter to sign the form.
- How many people have held that clipboard that holds the form I just signed?
- What about the arms of those chairs I am sitting in?
- Are the advisory brochures in those little holders made differently than the banned magazines?
Those missing magazines are the least of my worries. I’d like to have something to read. And it would be educational to know how to get in and out without touching door knobs or handles.
I suppose you can use your bum to push the door in one direction, doesn’t work so well the other way, and maybe not at all if it has a latch.
