Missed A Week
The blog was kind of non-existent last week. Hurricane Bill passed our area without much fanfare other than people standing too close to the sea and complaining to the media they were asked to move for their own safety. Then came tropical store Danny which fizzled to an enormous rain storm for many areas.
In between all that I was busy, busy with some things that didn’t matter, and some that did. For example:
My GPS problem solved – Some time ago I mentioned having a MIO GPS unit that included a 2009 map update. The update didn’t work. Contacting customer service was about as useful as holding out your hand to stop the rain. Part of my procedure was to let the retailer know about the problem. There was no real obligation on Staples to rectify the problem. I have always held Staples as one of my favourite retailers for many products. Staples solved my problem in about five minutes, and they will certainly remain and be recommended as a favourite retailer for many reasons. More about this in a later review on the website.
What colour is green? – That’s an honest question. All I hear these days is green this and green that. I was taught way back when that green was a certain colour, like red, yellow and so on. Now days green is not green. Who decided green was to become an adjective instead of a colour anyway? I bought some green coffee filters the other day – mainly because there were no others on the shelf – and they are not green. They are a dingy brown, unbleached it says, to help protect our environment. They look dirty, like they already have been used.
Geese flying north? – As I glance out the window while writing this blog I notice groups of geese flying north this morning. One group was even flying west. Shouldn’t they be enduring a southern journey this time of year? Do they have GPS? Their navigation system seems to be malfunctioning a little. At least they are not green.
WizMouse – can’t believe it, here I am, a keyboard user, recommending another mouse program. One thing I do use the mouse for often, is the scroll wheel. This little program comes in very handy by allowing you to scroll any window you have open under the mouse pointer. It doesn’t move it to the fore front, it scrolls the window by just putting the pointer over it and rolling the mouse wheel. It even allows scrolling in a lot of programs that normally don’t have scrollbars. Very handy at times, uses little resources, and its free.
