Bank Your Call 

phone-1I’ve mentioned phone calls that we receive before several times. No wonder half the world is lonely, you never get to speak to a person anymore.

It only gets worse. Now they are taking control of my answering service. I won’t name the name of the bank, although it is easily detectible in nscave’s site url. If you are a bank owner or employee, take note. This is not customer service. It needs to be corrected.


I was away for the weekend and on my return one of the calls left on my answering service went like this.

“This is not a sales call. Please call us as soon as possible at 1-800-xxx-xxxx.” It looked like a number I had seen before, so with a little online investigation I trace the number to the above mentioned bank. On their web site it is listed as their fraud number. Okay, maybe this call is important. Being doubly certain this is a legitimate number I call.

“All of our agents are busy, please stay on the line to keep your priority. Your calls are important to us.” I get to listen to loop music for two minutes. Then, “All of our agents are busy, please stay on the line to keep your priority. Your calls are important to us.” Then loop music again. This is real loop music, no rhythm, no beat, just endless looped half melody over and over. “All of our agents are busy, please stay on the line to keep your priority. Your calls are important to us.” After ten minutes of this, I decide my time is more important than that.


Several hours later I call back the exact same number. “Thank you for calling XYZ banking. If you are calling about your account, press 1. If you are calling about a transaction, press 2. If you are calling about Visa, press 3. If you want to do telephone banking, press 4. (This went on for six or eight selections, I got tired of listening.) If none of these numbers are suitable, please follow these further instructions,” the voice continued. “Say the product you desire, such as Visa, Mortgage, Deposit, etc.”

I say “I am returning your call.” “You did not say the name of a product,” I am scolded. “Try again, and say the name of the service or product you want,” she says, “or stay on the line.” “All of our agents are busy, please stay on the line to keep your priority. Your calls are important to us.” Not that again. My comment can’t be published.


This sure is an education in phone customer service. First of all you called me, and left a message. You want me to call back to that garbage. By using a listed fraud number you make it seem important. The education received is that all the numbers listed on your site all go to the same place. You only make it look like different departments.

You just ruined it if I ever do get an important call, for if I return again and the little message light is blinking, I will call that magic message retrieval number, input my password, Press 1 to retrieve the messages and Press 7 to delete before you even get a chance to talk, unless it happens to be a friend’s number.

So Bank Your Call, it will never get to me.
