Don’t Do That Again
This is the month when us older snow bird types begin preparations for a trek south for the winter. Its a big job.
The weather here at the home front is getting colder fast. Hurricane like winds today, with torrents of rain. A few days ago it was frost and heavy duty snow flurries.
So its a good idea to go to Florida where its warm, right?
I did that last winter, and it was the coldest winter in Florida for years. Everyone said its so nice and warm there. Well by our standards it wasn’t too bad, minus three or four Celsius (25 to 26 Fahrenheit) and by noon it would be light jacket or shirt sleeve weather. I was expecting a lot more though.
But many was the morning I would look at the highway cameras ‘back home’ and see temperatures +15 C or more, (59 deg.F.), rising even higher as the day progresses.
Well I have been monitoring the Panama City Beach temperatures every day since I got back. Guess what is happening – again! This is today’s prediction for the week ahead.
In Celsius:
Those lows are in the 2 deg. range already.
In Fahrenheit:
Translates to the low thirties no matter how you look at it.
So I am thinking, if it is getting that cold already, what’s it going to be in a couple months time?
The weather seems to be changing all over to less than ideal trends.
If you see an SUV among the frost tipped palm trees with snow tires being driven by a dude with ear flaps down and a big parka with gloves on – that’ll be me!
