Continued from yesterday. Now they call twice in one day. This time 'L' takes the call.
Caller: "This is Max, I work for ya da yada solutions and I am telling you your computer has an infection and is causing much problem and has to be corrected."
Ms ‘L’: "Oh my, is that true, can that be true? Am I going to be sick?"
Caller: "No no no, its your computer, it has the infection, a virus, which is very bad. The errors must be fixed right away."
Ms ‘L’: "You mean I can't catch it? Are you sure? I'm not going to get the virus and get sick?"
Caller: "No no, you can't catch it, your computer has virus, and is causing many errors on the internet. Must be fixed right away."
Ms ‘L’: "That's a relief. I am glad I can't catch it. I'm glad its my computer. I am so relieved."
Caller: "Are you in front of your computer now?"
Ms ‘L’: "I can be.".
Caller: "I give you instruction. Go to your computer. Okay?"
Ms ‘L’: "I'm there now."
Caller: "Press Windows Key and click etc. etc...."
Ms ‘L’: "Okay now what?"
Please note. She did not follow any of the instructions or press any of the keys suggested.
Caller: "What do you see?"
Ms ‘L’: "Nothing. The screen is blank."
Caller: : "You didn't do it right. Press the Windows Key. The Windows Key, that's the one with the four little squares on it."
Ms ‘L’: "I know what the windows key is. I pressed it."
Caller: "You should see Management System on your screen."
Ms ‘L’: "I don't. I don't see anything. Listen, how do you know its my computer? How can you see errors on my computer? How can you know that?"
Caller: "We can see your machine. Your computer has an ID."
Ms ‘L’: "You can see my computer on the internet and it has an ID? I don’t know if I believe you. I heard there is a scam about this."
Caller: "Yes. Look. Mark this down. CLSID 888DCA60-FC0A...30 digits….etc. It will prove we are looking at your computer."
Ms ‘L’: “Boy that sure is a long number.”
(Its a number that is on about 20,000 computers, located in the registry. They are all the same.)
Ms ‘L’: "I don't think I want to do this. I am getting scared. I think I will wait until my son comes home and let him take care of it. He will be home in about 15 minutes.".
Caller: "We can fix it very easily."
Ms ‘L’: "No I will wait for my son, he will be here in 15 minutes or so."
Caller: "Okay okay. He can call me back. My name is Max Smith. (Tell me that name matches the accent.) The number is 1-866-539-8803."
Ms ‘L’: "Okay I will ask him to call you. Thank you so much."
This has been shortened to conserve space and make it readable. Total time 40 minutes. I've got to try harder.
