Stupid Voice Mail
Just about everywhere you call these days you get answered by voicemail. No one answers their phone anymore. Press 1 if you want to talk to somebody, Press 2 if you want to talk to somebody else, Press 3 if you want to talk to yourself, you get the idea. I rarely leave any messages to these talking robots because it sets up the telephone tag and I'm it.
Well today a new twist. I called this certain company and the soothing female voice says: "Good morning, thank you for calling XYZ." - a four second pause - "if you want _ Press 1..." Well after the pause I started giving my name and...was interrupted by Miss Robot. Neat trick but here is how to get even (and I am a firm believer in that).
Make sure you have a phone that has both pulse and tone dialing. When the voice says Press 1, switch your phone to pulse and press any number. The fancy modern technical advanced computer system can't understand this, and you will get a person. Imagine that...works for me!
