PayPal Scam

Do you use Paypal for online tractions? If you do, be aware of an email scam advising you that due to unusual activity on you account, it has been temporarly restricted. You are advised to log on to your account and update your personal information. If you don't do so by a certain date, your account will be terminated.

Sounds and looks convincing, since they have the Paypal logo, etc. and it is from Support@paypal.com. Even some programs that trace urls and ips will say it is from Paypal and list their full mailing address. A good tip of though is it starts out, Dear Paypal User.

I received this email and contacted Paypal directly. Their response is that it is a spoof or scam and not to reply or click on any links contained in the email. Standard procedure for stuff like that, but many fall prey because it looks so authentic.

They went on to say that after the initial sign up, (which is done on a secure connection), Ebay or Paypal will never ask for personal, financial or credit information via email. (Ebay now owns Paypal.)

So trash that stuff immediately, even if it does look like their page.
