Mother Nature is in charge!
Mother Nature certainly has the popularity these days. A centre stage that no movie can ever match.
Ever since hurricane Juan visited us, people tend to watch the weather warnings just a little more closely. Many eyes have been glued to CNN or other media for the past few weeks watching in disbelief what has happened to the US Gulf Coast.
Now our attention swings to what was a hurricane but now is a tropical storm creeping slowly up the Eastern seaboard. It could still pack enough wallop to get our attention. Wind gusts, rain and surf along the coast of Nova Scotia. It has been gradually moving a little more inland as far as NS is concerned.
Should the canopy outside be taken down? What about the hanging plants? Will those trees be okay? Will there be any floods if all the rain comes at once? Will the power stay on? Is the lawn furniture secure enough?
Is there spare drinking water on hand? Flashlights have batteries? Does the BBQ have enough propane? Does the battery radio work? Enough food in the cupboard just in case?
Oh the questions. And it took Juan to make us pay attention to Mother Nature. Or are you just finding out about it? It is always the same, Mother Nature is in charge!
