Wash Your Hands
A local newspaper (Chronicle Herald) had a running series this week about dining out in various restaurants in this area and the fact that a lot of them didn't pass health inspections - more than once, and little was done about it.
Apparently that info is well protected and to get full details would cost more than a few dollars. But not only the establishment has problems. (Quote: "If someone defecates and doesn’t wash their hands, then when they handle food they can deposit the contaminant on the food,") This is in a related article under Metro.
Do we really have to worry about that sort of thing? YES!
My workplace (not a food establishment though), has posted signs in the washrooms with numbered steps on how to wash your hands with soap and water. You wouldn't think it would be all that difficult. However often I have observed employees leave the stall and head directly for the door. (Kind of makes that comment about washing your hands and touching the door handle reality doesn't it?)
I grew up on a farm, and my father always washed his hands before any type of food intake. In fact his words always stay with me, "Did you wash your hands?", even though he is gone.
Kind of makes me glad I have a wife that enjoys preparing meals and we rarely eat out.
