What do we gain?
Various outlets are considering closing their stores earlier on other days of the week. Perhaps 6pm on Saturdays, and maybe only staying open until 8pm or less during the week.
On Sunday they may not open until 10am or even noon. So I am thinking, what did we gain? Is Sunday shopping really a step forward as some suggest. Or is it a step backwards, which sometimes seems to be the trend.
After all, I am old enough to remember back to the days when stores were not open at all on Wednesdays. Friday nights were the only night stores stayed open late. In fact at one time the Monday and Tuesday hours were often reduced.
Like the weather saying, " I wonder if it is going to be as good a day yesterday as it was tomorrow?"
