How's Your Grocery Shopping?
Today I am standing in the line up at the fast checkout. Two in front of me, a lady comes up behind. She looks in my basket and counts the items in my basket. I have 10 just like the sign says. She counts the items of the person ahead of me. Also less than ten. "It wouldn't matter" she says, "except I have to pick up my grand daughter!" By now there are a couple more folks behind her.
"I wonder if they will take me over there?" she says, indicating the courtesy desk next to us. "I doubt it she continues." Looking at her watch, she says, "I have to pick up my grand daughter." I am not going to respond because I am hearing enough.
"Excuse me, excuse me," she hollers over to the courtesy desk. "Can you take me there, can you ring this through?" "I' m sorry," the cashier says, "this register isn't up yet, it is going to take a few minutes." "Awww geeze," she mumbles, "my grand daughter, I will be late."
Like magic, a cashier at the second express cash shows up, points directly at me, and says, "I can take some of you here, sir!" "Are you going there? Are you going there?" the hurried one says. "Sure I am," I say. I was tempted, boy was I tempted, but decided let's be nice. "Go ahead," I say. With a gruff 'Thank You' she goes through the cash.
I am thinking, if your grand daughter is so important, what the h#$% are you doing here in the store. But you have to let things slide, so on with my day.
I get through the cash and out to my vehicle in the parking lot, and guess who' parked beside me? Right - Ms hurry up and get out of my way I gotta get my grand daughter!
She is sitting there talking to her husband, partner or whoever he was. And she was still sitting there after I left the parking lot and headed out to the main street.
What about her grand daughter? Sounds like that 'Me First' disease.
