Line Ups 65
Any more than three people in a line up usually makes me want to exit now, proceed to the door, go.
Visiting Epcot, in Florida, the first thing I got introduced to was line ups. With numerous gates to get your ticket I notice a line with only a couple people in it. I select that one. It was the longest short line up I ever endured. The person opens up a fold up seat, sits down and begins talking to the attendant. True story. I think I know why that line was shorter than the rest.
After getting inside the gates to the largest establishment of a variety of entertainment I have ever seen, I see lots, including more line ups. But guess what. Epcot knows how to handle line ups. You zig zag back and forth thinking this line is moving pretty quick and is not too long – until you go around the corner and see it stretching up the hill and back down the same hill. Talk about being beside yourself. I was beside myself six times.
But during these zigs and zags there is lots to see in the surroundings around you, and the time does go by rather quickly.
Off to our final ride which is called “Soarin’.” Another line up, partially inside, partially out, sometimes in the light, sometimes in the dark. This one even has a digital electronic sign. Expected wait time: 65 minutes.
Me in a 65 minute line up. You have got to be kidding? Again uphill, downhill, some people get so tired they sit down, even lay down. Entertainment ahead. They thoughtfully put some kind of electronic pictures on the wall where the folks in the line up control the pictures moving animations. Grow fuzzy wuzzies. Make them taller by waving your arms. Make them bend over by leaning. Raise some more by lowering and raising your arms. Faster, faster!
I had to duck, dodge and flatten against the wall because the bozo in front of me was really getting into making those fuzzie doodles grow up up up. I have to admit, it made the time pass. Some ‘spring-breakers’ were even sitting in circles playing cards. I wonder who won?
Around the corner and down the hill through some neon lights and we were at the doors ready to go soarin’. 65 minutes did go by fairly quickly. In the seat, 5 point seat belt, a holder-inner comes down over you like on a roller coaster to hold you in place. Store your loose items in the bin. Hang on, here we go soarin’, completely with wind, smell and noise. Need details, click here to see where you have to go.
