No News Is Good News
I don’t think our title applies anymore in the world of TV news.
Clicking from channel to channel you find the same old stuff – often for three days in a row.
There was a time not long ago, when you watched TV news and would see the same article over and over again every twenty minutes to half an hour. I sort of understood that. Not everyone can watch the news at the same time, and this allowed those on a different schedule to find out what is going on in the world.
Same Old -
Now you see the same articles over and over, often in a rearranged order to appear different – for three days. Three days!
For example, the exact same Terry Fox news clip was run word for word every time you turn around, for three days straight. Don’t get me wrong. Terry Fox was a wonderful person, I admired his efforts, a lot. A remarkable person is an understatement. But the media doesn’t need to hammer it into my mind so often that I hate to hear about it.
Live and Loco
It doesn’t end here. Remember when we used to watch the national news, then wait for the local news after to see what is going on in our own neighbourhood? Try that now.
You will see several articles that were on the national on your local news. Live and local isn’t local anymore. Maybe they mean loco.
Tune in to some of the other popular programs (talk shows?)to get away from it all – not going to happen. Their segments consist of the same topics interspersed with short filler spots of things about nothing.
Right after the break they will have their various ‘experts’ discuss what doesn’t matter. This goes on for days.
The last few days we have been blasted by reports that some well known politician in this area changed his mind on the gun registry law. For three days plus!
Dinosaur Spines
Oh well, this morning they are talking about spines on a dinosaur – and pink diamonds.
Yes, times are changing. Is technology so fast we are running out of news?
