Northbound

We haven’t done too well updating the blog since the first of March. In fact the entire winter season has been pretty sporadic. The reason is simple. We have been so busy enjoying our snowbird visit to Panama City Beach and many other areas of Florida that there just wasn’t enough hours in each day to do everything we wanted to do.

In reverse order some of the things that kept us busy goes like this.

Tyndall2011_109Tyndall Air Show

The Tyndall Air Show was a highlight, with non-stop flying from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each and every participant was top notch. From a retired RCAF perspective it was wonderful to see the old and the new flying together.

How we have progressed over the years. Kudos to all the US service members who did a wonderful job on air show day and all days doing what we all believe in. As my friend said, “It kind of lets you know why we are free.”

Eden Gardens

Florida has numerous state parks and sometimes we wondered just what are they like? After visiting Eden Gardens we will certainly be visiting more of them on our return next year. Eden Gardens is a magical place with a lot of history, flowers in abundance, and the Spanish moss hanging from the huge trees makes you feel like you are in wonderland. For example one tree known as the wedding tree, is over 600 years old.

Pensacola Mardi Gras

They are always fun, with the crowd, the food and throwing of the beads. We attended the night time parade as did thousands of others. It was a fun filled two day trip with lots of excitement, and a side trip or two to some monster sized malls and flea markets.

Spring Break & the Beach

The month of March was awesome weather wise at Panama City Beach. This is the heart of Spring Break with the population increasing many times over. The temperature was mostly in the twenties for you Celsius folks, eighties for the Fahrenheit people and with lots of sun, tanning and a dip in the water became a reality.

Pictures & Stories

Only a very small sample of some of the things going on. There are lots of stories, and thousands of pictures to be edited and hopefully put together so that some of them will be worthwhile to present in this blog.

Northbound

The sad thing about all this is the time has come for us to return home once again. Not sad that we have to return home, there is never any place like home no matter where you are from, but it seemed the time passed much too quickly. Our trek back to Nova Scotia will begin April 1st.

One thing you can count on, Panama City Beach, we will be back.

Panama City Beach – we would like to thank you for a wonderful place to enjoy our “Snowbird” winter. It is a wonderful place to visit, stay and be able to be part of.

Thank You everyone for having us!
