Tabs & Tips

We all like tabs right? Well, most of us do. They are in nearly every program we use, except Microsoft Word.

Tabs For MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint

If you use MS Word you might like this add on. It was brought to my attention by PC Mag’s newsletter, one of the better ones I subscribe to.

Should you be like me and often have several documents open at once in MS Word, Office Tab will make it super easy to click between one document and another. You can use the keyboard or mouse for changing tabs and of course it allows you to easily see what documents you actually have open.

Office Tab by Extend Office works in any version, 2003, 2007 and 2010 of Microsoft Word and not only that, it also works in Excel and PowerPoint, to help you work more easily and efficiently.

Tweet From Firefox to Twitter to Facebook

Several people asked me how I can add something to Twitter and have it go to Facebook.

First of all I use a Firefox add-on called HootBar. This adds a little blue bird by your address bar. By clicking the ‘bird’ you can tweet the current url, or any other thing you decide to type in the address bar.  No need to sign in to your Twitter account. If you check the setting in your Twitter account, you will find you are able to have each of your tweets sent to Facebook.

Watch & Install Carefully

This has been said many times, and is worth saying again. If you decide to try a program, especially free ones, pay close attention during installation. Do the custom install if its available. This allows you to select and see everything that is going to take place. Otherwise carefully read every line, and note what each checkbox is for.

Don’t just click through.

Many programs that are good ones, now days include extras you may not want. Even some excellent programs  that didn’t participate in the past in  this procedure, now include toolbars, trial ware, and other ‘goodies’ you may not wish to have.

The programs are still good, you just have to separate the dandelions from the grass.
