If you have ever been around Panama City Beach at spring break time, you know how much and how fast the population can increase. Probably more than 200% and likely 150% are bikinis. If you haven’t, just Google Panama City Beach spring break for samples.

This year the promotions people have come up with a great idea. A contest that just might get into the Guinness World Records, the “longest bikini line”. The beach here is roughly 27 miles long, so there is plenty of space.

This generated all kinds of comments:

• Its degrading to women in this day and age - Huh?
• They should have a senior bikini line – see how they make out with that.
• Or a ‘snowbird’ bikini line – that would give those northerners something to do.
• Who’s going to check all those bikinis to see if they are of proper age – there’s been a recent girls gone wild court case here.
• And you thought a casino was a bad idea – that’s another story.
• Bring it on!

Just some of the comments in the local media that have appeared lately. Then today a NewsHerald article indicates Australia is up to the challenge and is ready to take them on for a competition.

Sounds good to me, only its in the summer, I won’t be here.

As a non-understanding northerner I have only one question.   Will this lengthen or shorten the tan line?
