Bad Examples
I have been around for a fair amount of time having reached senior years some time ago. I have observed a lot of changes during that time both good and bad. Having had an interest in mechanics and technology for most of those years I have watched us go from manual to automatic in so many ways sort of speak.
Automatic to Manual applies to humans too.
Its The Little Things
I am saddened to see how we as humans have changed, not from bad to worse, but to terrible. Remember that saying, "Its the little things that count?"
Seems to me one of my grand parents suggested that saying had something to do with the fact little things can become big things.
It Was A Mistake
I'm was saddened as well as upset when I read the news not long ago that some of our politicians were generating false and misleading expense accounts. Not one, not two, but 'some'. Getting generators, big TVs and a host of items that we pay for.
Then we quickly moved up the ladder to the federal level where many of our senators got caught with submitting claims for residences they didn't really use as they were supposed to be. We are talking thousands of dollars. Claims by those we trusted in former jobs, who often criticized the government before they were elected.
Excuses include mistakes in paperwork, misunderstanding the criteria, blaming new employees in the chain and so on. Yet the average person when hearing about the 'mistake' in the media, has no problem understanding what took place.
We are told some of the mistake will be paid back. Do we ever see any sort of receipts? Credibility and trust seem to have lost their meaning during times like this.
Much of this makes me think of drunk drivers that get caught. For every one that gets caught, how many get away?
If you or I tried any of these manoeuvres there would be no second chances, no hesitation, as to what the end result would be for our 'mistake'.
Put‘em Up
I think the highlight, and what got me to think about this topic was when I read on Twitter and then heard on the news about our provincial representatives fighting like kids in a washroom of the legislature building. This includes information a third representative that had to 'break it up' while the police were being called.
There is much being said about the younger generations ways and attitudes that frequently also gather media attention. We wonder how and why such goings on could happen.
Could it be the examples they are seeing?
