Catchy Crow

I have some questions about the crow in these pictures. It has been visiting regularly.

As you can tell, this is a fairly tall tree, in the 40 to 50 foot range.

My first question, is how do you do a horizontal landing? Prior to the crow’s arrival that twig was vertical like the other two in the picture.

The crow is so well balanced it can look behind with no problem. Quite a feat. Or is it feet? Oh yeah claws.

How did the crow know exactly where to land and sit so the branch didn’t split away from the trunk?

How did the crow know exactly where to land and sit so the end didn’t break off the branch?

Sometimes every day things are strange - as strange as the person who is asking the questions.
