Don Audette is Rod Stewart
A few friends and I attended a Rod Stewart impersonator show held at the Ark here in Panama City Beach a few nights ago.
The shows real purpose was to raise funds for Food For Kidz.Inc., and a good turn out resulted.
In past years I was only a part Rod Stewart fan, liking some of his songs and not caring for some others, although I can’t say I totally disliked any.
My expectations at this show were exceeded, as Don Audette’s presentation of many of the songs were second to none. He does look like Rod Stewart, and the rendition of the songs were as close as you would get to the originals. Unfortunately copyright regulations do not permit us to have a sample video clip.
I understand Don Audette hangs out these days in Branson, Mo. where he regularly performs. This show was a one man show, where he sings to canned music, while running his own light and sound systems. As a former part time DJ I can tell you this is no easy feat, and he pulled it off admirably.
The audience was composed of some younger people, but mostly older snowbird people who were more than familiar with the Rod Stewart era and beyond. In fact, just for good measure Don added a few songs from the forties as well.
If you ever get a chance to see and hear Don Audette as Rod Stewart, you won’t be disappointed, if you enjoy or have enjoyed Rod Stewart’s songs.
