I Wouldn’t Want To Miss One

The end of another year, the beginning of a new one. Celebrations are already going on around the world.

cake  I am one of the people whose birthday coincides with New Year’s day. I have never been a person who places much pomp and ceremony on a person’s birthday. Maybe my own is the reason why. It’s just no big deal.

First of all I didn’t control it, I wasn’t able to adjust what day it fell on, or the circumstances.

Second, I’ve never had a birthday party. Really you say? Well I’ve been at parties where I get gifts and everyone sings, “Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you,” (I’m leaving out the dear George part), but it really is a New Year party celebration.

Neither one can be adjusted, New Year’s day or my birthday, so they always come together. (I suppose some popularity could be entertained there, the Beatles made a song out of it years ago).

Now I did have one person say several years ago that those of us who have birthdays on this memorable day are the luckiest people in the world, because everyone celebrates our birthday all around the globe, street parties, fireworks, the full meal deal.

One positive thing I can say about having my birthday on Jan. 1st. “I wouldn’t want to miss one!”
