SlickRun Again - On No!
Miz D I will also answer/comment on your numbered answers and then I will let it go. I do agree to each his/her own. As you did, here are my further comments 1 thru 10.
1) One click to the desktop, one on the icon to start the program, one to start the program's file, - or are some double clicks - that's lots of clicks...
2 & 3) Click and scroll, sure that is fast (???) Like XPs 'eye candy' of sliding and fading menus. Any type of scroll is at least twice as long as a click, to say the least.
4) I would love to see you get to a program in four clicks in WP (double click counts as two clicks in my book). To a program that is not on the recently used list that hasn't been accessed recently at all.
5) If starting several programs crashes a computer, then something is wrong with that computer. Thing is, windows alone cannot initiate the proper delay between them. SlickRun can, as well as several other programs.
I regularly use several programs at once. E.g. Updating my web page, 3-4. Editing videos, sometimes as high as six. If the computer couldn't handle that I would get rid of it.
6) I partially agree that either can cause carpal problems, especially improper workstation setups. However, mouse action is the largest contributor if used for long periods with that improper setup. For example people that do graphics design.
7) This is the personal preference thing again.
8) Completely missed the point on this one. WPs quick correct has absolutely no connection or similarity to the auto-fill on SlickRun. This is like comparing a road map to a fiction book to find out where you are going.
9) Same as answer 8 above. (And I have yet to see a quick start icon that was quick. They are just icons no matter how you look at them.)
10) Resource consumption can be a very important factor. See #5 above. Most crashes, lockups and slowness are the result of a lack of resources. If you ever have a chance sometime, take off all the icons, change the file names of all the menu folders so the menus won't work, and start all your programs from Explorer. See how fast a computer is then. Not very efficient mind you, but fast. Proves a point.
It does come down to personal choice. I certainly use a mouse for some things, the keyboard for a lot of others. But one thing is certain, SlickRun has become and will be a permanent installation on all my computers.
Say, did I tell you about the faster mouse/menu program. It's called Traybar. Worth checking out.
