Complicated

Is life getting too complicated because of technology? I am known for liking gadgets full of LEDs and switches. But it came to me not everybody is like that and life may be more stressful as a result.

Take the TV remote for example. Not long ago it had two volume buttons, two channel buttons and a number pad. That's it. Today I have one here that has 22 buttons and another that has 28.

Go buy a new thermostat. Used to be the choice was a little dial that spun around to the temperature you wanted. Now you get to program it for multi stages throughout the day. And of course separate programs for weekends. It tells you the temperature, the time and whether the batteries are dead. Buttons for temporary adjustment programs to the program, and buttons in case you change your mind.

Computer keyboards used to be a duplicate typewriter with a few extras, but not many. Now the average keyboard has programable buttons to do a multitude of things. Open your email, adjust your screen, turn up the volume, go to your favourite site, play a dvd - no wonder no one can program their VCR.

This is an advancing world - Press Start To Stop!
