What Do We Gain Part 2

We are being urged to be more aware of and protect our environment by recycling waste and using our vehicles less, including using less electrical power because in this area it is produced by burning coal or natural gas.

Sunday shopping means more cars will be driven each Sunday to get to the malls. Most will window shop and not buy much. They will still make the usual weekday trips as before.

More workers will have to drive to work Sunday, also burning more fuel.

More trucks will need to be used should consumers actually buy something to replenish the stock.

Malls and stores will use more power with equipment and lighting running 24/7. The power company has to produce electricity to meet the demand.

The transit system will use more buses equivalent to Saturday service. Many will not be needed, but have to be there as a service just in case someone needs to go to the store.

The list goes on, the environment may not - don't forget your can of ozone destroying chemical spray.
