Shutup And Drive
I had to venture downtown today and traffic was moderately heavy. So I get behind this car that is going along at a good clip, then suddenly slows down at a green light to a crawl. Once on the other side of the intersection we are going a good speed again. Then in the middle of a steep hill we suddenly slow down again to half the posted limit. Then back up to full speed, slam on the brakes because the light is red.
It was erratic enough that remaining traffic behind me all passed the two of us since we were traveling on a four lane street.
What was causing this erratic driving you may ask? Let me tell you. First I see the kinked elbow holding the cell phone pose. Every time her peripheral vision picked up any movement, there was a speed change. Yes this time it was a 'her' but there are male equivalents out there except for the make up part, and I am not too sure about that.
The phone conversation ends. Now it is time to flip down the visor mirror and touch up the makeup and lipstick. Now I know that driver is not looking ahead at all because the visor is in the way. Got the lipstick fixed, now we have to 'poof' the hair - on both sides. Fluff it out, pat it down, nope not right, poof it, fluff it, 'till it looks like bozo the clown.
There was some lane wandering during that last little episode. For a moment I thought she was going to take on a dump truck by jamming its tandem wheels. All of this took place during a fifteen minute drive of just a few kilometres. Kind of explains how collisions happen with very little planning.
They sell a device for autos called The Clubb, supposedly to lessen theft. I can think of other uses for it.
