Fall Is Here

This tree in my yard started telling me that fall was arriving early this year. A smaller tree next to it changed its colours completely by the start of third week of August.

Does this tell us anything about the coming winter other than it is coming? This is a maple tree and I found you can forecast certain weather changes that are about to happen because the leaves will flip over.

Once fall appears we know the days contain more darkness than light. I find it fascinating how quickly the temperatures change. Today it is 12 deg.C. A few days ago it was in the high twenties. We will have more warm days, but the nights will be cooler from now on. Who changes that thermostat anyway? Mother Nature? God? Some find fall the nicest time of year. I hate it, for the simple reason I know what the season that follows brings.

And this year for most places the 'spring ahead fall back' clock routine has been delayed until November. That means even more adjustments to make and get used to.

Too bad we couldn't get our government to pass a bylaw that summer had to stay around all year.
