Blue Flash
Electronic devices often have colourful displays. Clocks, cell phones, calculators and so on. Is it intentional or practical reasons that change these colours on a regular basis?
Remember when the first calculators came out with that red numeral display? Wow electronic numbers, all made from straight lines. Then try to read it in bright light, and the numbers practically disappeared in sunlight.
I am not sure which came first but I think it was the bright green display on the black background. It showed up on everything from clocks to TV channel numbers. You can plainly see it under all circumstances the advertisements said. Wonderful we thought, as we traded our calculators for a new model.
Ah I thought so, another new display just in time for Christmas of that year. This one was called the LCD display, which was a little different being backlighted black numbers on a kind of grayish screen. This could also be tinted a light green or blue background depending on the device. It uses less power and is easier to see touted the advertisements.
Then up pops the LED indicators. I say indicators because they could be used for anything from displays to plain pilot lights. And by changing the voltage they would produce many colours and with a brightness level so high some of them could light up a room brighter than a night light.
The most prominent colour for the last year or so seems to be blue. So I am just wondering what colour will be next. Looks like the calculators are mostly gone because nearly everything has one built in. But the little bright lights remain, especially the blue flashing ears.
