Drag My Mileage
Sometimes you find humour in your every day doings without looking too hard. Yesterday I did my 200 mile drive to see my Mom in the hospital as I do most weekends. Driving by yourself is pretty boring, until you look around you.
The high cost of gas is on everybody's mind these days no matter what country you live in. Some people just put up with it, some refine their driving habits and some just buy smaller cars.
Also a lot of people have taken to bike riding, for exercise, and to save fuel sometimes.
But what if you want to take your bike with you? If you have a large vehicle, you just throw it in the back wherever it will fit. If you have that smaller car, there are various bike racks available for use. I noticed a couple of these on the road yesterday on small, almost tiny cars. Good saving there, no aerodynamic drag to affect fuel consumption.
Sleek smaller cars had other things on the roof too. Rigs such as this were plentiful. The one shown is in good shape although the aerodynamics may not be perfect. I saw a few of these, some torn open flapping in the wind, one with an additional tarp tied over the top, and one open with nothing in it. (Maybe it did have something in it when the owner started out, who knows?)
So it seems to me once the small cars are full up with people, there isn't much room for anything else. The only thing that could be more entertaining is to see one of those bicycles towing the small car. (Small car owners, don't attack me. It is like being a Maytag repair man out there when you are driving alone. You have to smile at something.)
