Firefox 3 - How Is It?
My being unhappy with Mozilla's promotional introduction of Firefox 3 doesn't take away from the fact it is a great browser that I still consider the best.
I managed to get it many hours after the introductory time for my area. I have only used it for 24 hrs, but here is my initial personal observations.
- Installation was fast and without any difficulties whatsoever on two computers.
- My bookmarks (around 1400) remained and will be easier to manage with the new Firefox.
- Firefox 3 is noticeably faster, loading pages and doing most common every day things I do.
- The comfort of using it seems just as good if not better than the older version.
- I use Wizz RSS add on, and lost all my RSS feeds and had to re-add all of them manually. Wizz sent out an update too late for me, which advised how to save them in a file just in case this happens.
- I am having trouble with slide shows that use MP3 sound. Sound is choppy and stops after about 5 sec. I suspect this may be a setting or adjustment, although the same shows work fine in the old version and IE.
Summary: Firefox 3 is a great browser, worthy of the upgrade. All Firefox users should upgrade to Version 3, and if you are using 'that other browser' it is time you made the move.
