Clean my Ducks er Ducts
My latest telemarketer call went something like this:
The lady asks: "What kind of heating system do you have in your home?"
Me: "Forced air."
Lady: "We are going to be doing some work in your area and wonder if you should be interested in having your ducts cleaned?"
Me; " You clean ducks?"
Lady: "Yes, we have a large vacuum system mounted on a truck that does an excellent job cleaning your ducts. We have a special on right now, and the price is unbeatable."
Me: "Really? Do you clean all of them?"
Lady: "Huh, well yes we do the whole system, all of them both the large and small ones. If you haven't had them done for five years or more, you should have them cleaned."
Me: "I have never had my ducks cleaned."
Lady: "How long have your lived in your home?"
Me: "I forget, twenty five or six years."
Lady: "Oh my sir. Your ducts must be in really bad shape, they do need to be cleaned for your safety."
Me: "Well maybe so. I didn't give it much thought before. I just kind of let them take care of themselves. But if you say my ducks need cleaning, maybe I should consider. What were those prices again?"
Lady: "With out current discount and because we are in the neighbourhood, it would be XXX.xx."
Me: "Just one question, how do you get them to stand still?"
Lady: "Huh?"
Me: "The ducks, how do you get the little buggars to stand still while you are vacuuming them?"
Lady: "Sir I think you are pulling my leg."
Me: "Oh no, you offered to clean my ducks and I thought they were already clean floating around in that little pond. But if you can get them to stay still, you can vacuum them if you like."
Lady: "Have a nice day sir. Goodbye."
