Calendars - Lightning for Thunderbird
Talking about calendars yesterday brought to mind an extension I use constantly in Thunderbird, my favourite and only email program.
This extension or add on is called Lightning and is very handy for general use as well as keeping track of appointments and other tasks you have scheduled. You can display the calendar in the format of your choice, a week at a time, a month or the full year depending on the option you choose.
Once installed, it is always there inside your email program, available by just clicking an icon in the lower left of Thunderbird while reading your email. Clicking another icon in the same area brings up your list of tasks and a third icon takes you immediately back to your email.
Appointments are very easy to add by just double clicking the date and filling out the form that pops up. You can include as much or as little detail that suits your purpose.
You check your email every day, so why not have your calendar just as handy? You can also choose from several different kinds of reminders, so you will never miss an important date again once you get into the habit of using it.
If you use Thunderbird for email, and you should, Lightening and ThunderBrowse are two add on extensions not to be without. I have mentioned ThunderBrowse before, an extension that allows you to look at those urls in your emails without leaving Thunderbird, unless you want to.
