Blower South

I haven't mentioned religion here before, I usually have the attitude to each his own. However I was somewhat offended on Nov. 11, Remembrance Day, when the JW organization came pounding on the door in the morning expecting me to answer the door and accept their theory of what the world consists of. I didn't answer the door, nor did I read the slick leaflet left in my mail box. That just wasn't my way of remembering.

So the following day, back to normal, it was time to convert the lawn tractor from being a mower to blower. According to the manual the conversion is supposed to take about an hour. You know those fancy little springy quick connects - well sometimes they are not so quick unless you consider ten minutes and skinned knuckles quick.

And those spring clips that kept falling out all summer - now they won't come apart even with the persuasion of heavy duty pliers and not so nice language.

And why is the smallest tiny spring clip always located up underneath with a bar in the way that just barely prevents you from seeing it, including the small washer that is going to fall off and go to never never land.

You would think that after doing this several times it would get faster. Not this dude, it seems to get longer each time. In fact, the colder the day, the longer it takes.

Kind of makes your mind wander a bit, thinking of the folks that live in the warmer climates. I'm retired, why am I here disconnecting funny little springy things lying on my back on cold concrete? Why don't I just hop on one of those silver birds and go watch the bikinis and palm trees for five months a bit south of here?  Hmmmmm...
