How's Your Grocery Shopping
The Christmas season is upon us and many people are doing a lot of shopping for gifts and of course that must have, holiday food.
This ad caught my eye in the local delivered sale. Ahh..cupcakes, with festive decorations and everything. They don't look too bad and the price is good. And by the looks of things they come in black or white.
Now years ago when I grew up on the farm, cupcakes were darn near the size of a cup. They were muffin size and just one would almost fill you. Well okay, two or three.
I always thought the name "cupcake" came about because they were the size of a cup and they were like little cakes.
Many little bellies looked forward to cupcakes, especially at Christmas with the little goodies sprinkled on top.
So I thought - these would be good, just like the old days.
Well no, not quite. Bringing the package home, what to my great surprise, not eight tiny reindeer, but 12 tiny.., no small.., no mini, Homestyle cupcakes.
The first red mark from the bottom in the picture is one inch high. The second red mark is an inch and a half.
Did someone wash these things and they shrunk? If you take away the gunky icing, the cupcake isn't even an inch tall.
On the package it says "two-bite"! Take two bites out of one of these and you will have part of your fingers missing.
Everything is down sized today. Packages get larger, the product gets smaller. Only the price increases in size. Pretty soon Santa will be using huskies instead of reindeer.
