Most Concerts Are Free

Steel Drums

It finally warmed up to summer temperatures in Panama City Beach, and of course it is no different than any other place as far as the Christmas season is concerned. The shopping is hectic and the decorations are everywhere.

This is an entertainment area by design and the many Christmas shows are everywhere. The variety is so great that no one would have any trouble finding something they like. What is different as that many of the shows and concerts are free. Yes free. They do pass a bucket around during intermission or at the end hoping to collect money for those less fortunate or a pre-advertised charity. These shows are second to none, being well produced and entertaining.

For example here is one selection from the Steel Drum concert we attended last week. The singer went from high to low notes with ease, and the steel drummer made them sound like an orchestra. It was hard to believe there were only two people up front, with one guest singer.

The video quality is less that what we usually have, with the only lighting being a Christmas tree. I just wanted to show how good these steel drums sound. We attended their show last year, and again this year, which unfortunately was their last Christmas presentation, at that location.

And yes, nscave did have permission to film.

Rader Family Christmas Show

This afternoon we attended the Rader Family Christmas Show. It was their 33rd, our 1st. And what a show, what a talented family.  (Click the pictures to enlarge.)

You had to love country music to enjoy this show, and the variety covered Christmas old favourites to country tunes old and new.

The Rader family talent has been around for awhile. This gentleman was introduced by saying he had appeared on many TV shows such as Opra, Ellen, Leno and so on. Turns out his boss is Keith Irvin. He is part of their band.

You can see why this family is so talented and many of them spend a lot of time at Nashville. This young lady was introduced as the 4th generation Rader family singer.

There were more Rader Family performers than those shown here in this small sample. It was a full two hour show packed with songs, medleys and musical variety. There was only a short break to offer some CDs and give them a break. If you get a chance to watch, hear or see any of the Rader Family, it is well worth it.
