Kids–Don’t Mess With My Computer
This is a message for sons, daughters, grand kids, anyone that visits.
Over the past year I have had quite a few requests for assistance to fix a computer that is running slow, does crazy things on its own, or barely runs at all.
The most common reason:
A relative who had been visiting downloaded a bunch of “stuff” while they used Mom’s or Dad’s computer.
The nice things you download from Facebook, Twitter, Messenger and other places may be your favourite little gems, but probably don’t do much for Mom’s or Grandma’s computer after you leave and they need it for more important things.
If someone gives you permission, or you use someone’s computer, don’t download stuff on it.
First of all, they don’t know you downloaded it until trouble erupts.
Second, what may seem like the best program add-on since the Commodore 64 to you, likely won’t rate a Z minus when the computer fails.
After all, when someone lets you use their computer, that is quite a courtesy, and should be appreciated and used cautiously.
This message is not only for sons, daughters, grand kids, that visit, but anyone that uses someone’s computer with permission.
(I sure hope you don’t use someone’s computer without permission.)
