Gecko–He’s Back!
A little over two weeks ago I wrote about an adventurous gecko that visited our bedroom and was never to be seen again. Each day we kept a look out for the little visitor, wondering where he found a hiding place. We even half expected a visit during the night, but the little buddy was no where to be found.
Mid-day today I walked into the bedroom to get something, and there on the night stand proud as can be is the little gecko dude, head and tail held high proudly, as if to say, “Look-ee see, its me eee!”
So I quickly grab him by his little tail, hoping not to injure him, so I don’t squeeze too tightly. Swisssssh pssssssft gone in less than a flash under the bed.
Here we go again.
I’ve had the LED flashlight ready since a week ago, so he was easy to spot, and to chase with the beam of light. Yeah he didn’t like that beam of light.
With a little prodding, out from under the bed. I catch him again between thumb and finger. I gotcha now you little goof!
Pazzzzzinnnnngg – gone, under the chair, the night table, the dresser, back to under the chair.
Okay this is going to take some special strategy. No way I am going to be outsmarted by a tiny gecko. Garbage can!
I grab the plastic garbage can, and quickly move the chair, and there he is out in the open wondering how that happened.
I quickly slam the upside down garbage can over him. He’s trapped, and not happy by the sound of the sounds going on inside.
Now you may wonder, how am I going to get him outside now that he is inside the upside down garbage can. Well, I am smarter than a gecko, I had that figured out before.
I carefully slide a stiff plastic place mat under the garbage can and carefully lift both up. You thought I was going to use paper right? That wouldn’t be stiff enough for this faster than a rocket gecko.
I transport him outside to a bush where I’ve seen several of his friends regularly many times. I slide the place mat off and Mr. gecko happily enters bushville with the rest of his friends.
Now wasn’t that a good story? My heart was pounding harder than when doing exercise chasing that little critter.
Nice of you to visit little friend .
